Underfloor heating normally provides even, comfortable warmth in your home.
When the floor stays cold or the room doesn't reach temperature, this can have several causes. Sometimes it's a simple setting, but it can also point to a problem with the installation.
What can you check yourself?
First check the following points:
- Is the thermostat set high enough?
- Is the thermostat set to the correct mode?
- Is the boiler or heat pump switched on?
- Does the heating work in other rooms?
- Has the installation been recently adjusted or serviced?
Give underfloor heating enough time to reach temperature. Unlike radiators, underfloor heating warms up slowly.
Possible causes
A cold underfloor heating system can, for example, be caused by:
- An incorrect thermostat setting.
- A problem with the heat source.
- Air in the system.
- A problem with the pump.
- A fault in the control unit or manifold.
